Going Purple!

My blog post for Creative Studios this week features a card that I've made using the new Nautical Stamps but in more feminine colours, as I wanted to show that this stamp set wasn't just for the boys!

To see how I put this card together head over to the Creative Studios Design Team blog HERE and to

Black & Gold

This week on the Creative Studio Design Team blog, I have posted my black & gold ship card that was featured with all the other fabulous samples from the DT on Sam's show on Saturday.

This card was created in a classic black and gold mixed with kraft cardstock.  With lots of stamping, mask technique and a touch of gilding wax here and there.

To see the full details on how this card was made take a look at the blog along with the DT's beautiful creations!

I'll be back next week with another Nautical creation :)

Creating For Sam Poole at Creative Studios

I have had the pleasure of joining in with a Design Team Challenge over at Sam's blog which you can find HERE  We were asked to create a Halloween project using the Wise Friend Stamp set...
I decided to make an easel card using black card., and picked out some orange & black papers from my scrap box.  I stamped and clear embossed the owl image many times onto different card colours and patterned papers.  I stamped the eyes in orange to give the owl a spooky look (my daughter thought it was spooky anyway!!)  The moon is made from white card put through the "reflections" embossing folder and punched out with a circle punch.  I then stamped and clear embossed the leaves onto orange paper and cut out, and also stamped and clear embossed a  branch.  These have all been positioned on top of the orange paper.  The "Let your Spirit Fly" was stamped and white embossed onto black card and cut around.  For the bottom of the card I have added letter stickers for the greeting and stamped & cut out an extra pair of scissors.

Canvas Creations

In the past year I have discovered a real love for Distress Inks and Stamps, okay....maybe a slight obsession!!!  I really love to create on canvas, especially the small ones, they give a great opportunity to practice techniques, play with new products and colour schemes.  This small canvas is tiny, and it was the first time I'd used texture paste and I wanted a small area to try it out on.  I also used a set of Steampunk Dreams stamps from Sam Poole, which I'd bought at the Stamp & Scrapbooking
Show at Ally Pally in 2012.

This second canvas I made after buying the Art Houses and Art Flower stamps from Sam Poole  (can you tell I love her stamps?!) I used an old technique of clear heat embossing to give the houses a fabulous shine.  Once again I have used Distress Inks and have stamped the images several times to be able to layer them for maximum effect.   This is one of my favourites, the colours of inks are a combination of Tumbled Glass, Chipped Sapphire and my very favourite colour Peacock Feathers.

This canvas I made last weekend at a 12 hour crop.  I borrowed these gorgeous PaperArtsy Jofy stamps from my lovely friend Tina, and thought I'd mix my colour combination up this time!  I just love the bright colours and fun style of these stamps.  I think I may have to purchase some of these soon!

Welcome!

I've decided to get back into the world of blogging, not to share classes I am teaching, but to share some of the fun projects that I craft for myself.  Although I am a scrapbook teacher, I love to create mixed media projects and cards using stamps, paint, distress inks and stains.

I also love photography and I hope to share a few of my photos too.  I hope you'll join me along the way, as I share my love of crafts with you.

I'll start off my new blog with a couple of mixed media projects I have created in the past few months.  The first one is a canvas that I made for my mum on mothers day, its a combination of texture paste through a mask and lots of acrylic paints and mists.

This is a letter "H" that I made for my daughter, using tissue paper, mists, stamping and mod podge.  This was the first time I'd used mod podge, or created a project of this kind.   I now have an "S" ready to make for myself!!
